Registry number: CAS[8007-18-9]; CI 77788
Structural formula: NiO•Sb2O5•20TiO2
Quality:
The crystal form of Titanium-nickel yellow is the same as that of rutile TiO2, and its color is due to the fact that in the crystal structure of rutile TiO2, the titanium located in the coordination center is partially replaced by the chromogenic element nickel (like titanium, the coordination number of nickel is also 6), resulting in a vivid yellow color. Because Ni and Sb are introduced into the TiO2 lattice, their average price is 4, which changes the color of TiO2, making it lemon yellow or light yellow, but the color and light are not as vivid as lead chromium yellow. It is light-resistant, weather-resistant, acid-alkali resistant, and high-temperature resistant, and is a performance pigment. The density is 4.6~5.0g/cm3, the oil absorption is 12%~20%, and it has good hiding power, but the tinting strength is not high. Titanium-nickel yellow is a solid solution, nickel and antimony enter the crystal lattice of TiO2 by thermal diffusion at a high temperature of about 1000 °C, and are chemically stable. Titanium nickel yellow is boiled in hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, it does not decompose either nickel or antimony, and the color does not change in any way. When titanium nickel yellow is boiled in water, the extraction of nickel and antimony is very small.
Titanium-nickel yellow pigment is chemically quite stable, it not only has good stability to acids or bases, but also has excellent stability to oxidants and reducing agents and sulfides. In general, heavy metals such as lead, chromium, arsenic, antimony and cadmium are toxic, but in titanium-nickel yellow pigments, there is a considerable amount of antimony oxide, but because it has formed a eutectic solid solution with titanium oxide and nickel oxide, it is chemically very stable. It will not decompose antimony and nickel components under various conditions of use, so titanium-nickel yellow pigment is non-toxic. Drug trials on various animals have also proven that Titannickel is non-toxic.
Various natural exposure and artificial accelerated weathering tests have proved that the durability and weatherability of titanium nickel yellow are better than that of rutile titanium dioxide. Titanium-nickel yellow is produced at high temperatures above 1000°C, and its heat resistance is excellent. In general, not only does Titannickel itself not change, but it also does not cause changes in other pigments or media used with it.
Method:
The production process of titanium nickel yellow is exactly the same as that of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid method, after the hydrated titanium dioxide in the production of titanium dioxide by sulfuric acid method is fully washed, it is sent to the beating tank, and the compound containing nickel and antimony with sufficient activity is added in a certain proportion, as well as the treatment agent that can promote the transformation of crystal form during calcination, mixed evenly according to a certain concentration, and after filtration, the filter cake is sent to the rotary kiln and calcined at a temperature of about 1000 °C to complete the lattice transformation. If the calcination temperature is too high, the material will be sintered and the performance of the finished product will be affected. After calcination, it is then post-processed and crushed to obtain a finished product. The purpose of post-processing is to improve the surface properties of the finished pigment, so it can be treated differently according to different uses.

Use:
The weather resistance and durability of titanium nickel yellow are better than rutile titanium dioxide, and can be used for coil coatings, automotive coatings, vehicle and aviation coatings, as well as coatings and plastics for signs, road signs, etc.
With the excellent stability of titanium nickel yellow, it can be used for high-temperature resistant coatings applied at high temperatures, plastics and other heat-resistant coatings that are injected at high temperatures.
Titannickel has good chemical stability and can be used in equipment and wall coatings in chemical plants, cement coatings, latex coatings and acid-curing amino resin coatings.
Titanium-nickel yellow is non-toxic and can be used in toy coatings and printing inks for toy plastics, food packaging plastics and food cans.
The main disadvantages of titanium nickel yellow are light color, low tinting strength, coarse particle size compared with titanium dioxide, poor dispersion, and should not be used as a yellow pigment alone, but mostly used as a yellow base and other organic yellow pigments, and used for light-colored weather-resistant external coatings.
