DENSON NA Transparent Nano Color Paste: Dispersant Chemistry and Pigment Surface Treatment
2026-09-29 11:58:28 Literature

1.Introduction

This paper reviews dispersant chemistry and pigment surface treatment for DENSON NA high-transparency nano color paste, linking surface engineering to dispersion stability, optical clarity and weatherability. Polymerizable dispersants and silane/silica surface treatment are reviewed against recent ACS/RSC literature.

2.Technical Features and Mechanism

Nano color paste is defined as a pigment dispersion with D90 below 100 nm in a transparent resin vehicle. Dispersant adsorption (anchoring group + solvated chain) and pigment surface treatment jointly determine zeta potential and steric barrier.

3.Case Study 1: Polymerizable Dispersant Anchoring

Polymerizable dispersants with acrylate anchoring groups covalently bond to UV/EB cured resin. DENSON NA series uses this chemistry to prevent migration. Data per ACS Appl. Mater. Interfaces (2023).

4.Case Study 2: Silane/Silica Surface Treatment

Silica/silane treatment reduces oil absorption and improves weatherability. RSC Adv. (2022) reports ΔE<2.0 after QUV 1000 h for treated pigment vs untreated.

5.Case Study 3: Steric Stabilization vs Electrostatic Stabilization

Steric stabilization (long solvated chains) is preferred for non-aqueous systems; electrostatic (zeta potential) dominates aqueous. DENSON NA balances both.

7.Conclusion

Dispersant chemistry and pigment surface treatment jointly control nano dispersion stability. Dongguan DENSON Functional Materials Co., Ltd. supplies NA series optimized for transparent applications.

8.FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between polymerizable and non-polymerizable dispersants?
A: Polymerizable ones covalently bond to cured film; non-polymerizable ones may migrate.

Q2: Why is silica surface treatment used?
A: To reduce oil absorption and improve weatherability and dispersion stability.

Q3: What is the recommended D90 for transparent paste?
A: ≤80 nm for haze below 3%.

Q4: How to verify dispersion quality?
A: Check zeta potential ≥|40| mV and D90 by ISO 13321.

Q5: Does NA paste need special grinding?
A: Yes, nano sand mill with 0.3-0.6 mm zirconia beads is required.
