Waterborne colorants by DENSON are applied across architectural, wood and anti-corrosion coatings. This paper presents 3 application cases with real production data.
Waterborne colorant is a pre-dispersed pigment in water with polymeric dispersant, defoamer and anti-freeze, designed for tinting low-VOC coatings under GB 38508.
Fig.1 Worker applying waterborne wall paint
For interior latex, WT series delivers washability ≥3500 cycles (GB/T 9266), with no flocculation after 6 months storage.
| Parameter | Result | Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Washability | ≥3500 cycles | GB/T 9266 |
| Fineness | ≤15 μm | GB/T 1724 |
| VOC | ≤80 g/L | GB 38508 |
Fig.2 Roller brush application
Waterborne wood coatings require D50≤0.15 μm and transparency ≥92%. WT nano-series passes this test.
Fig.3 Anti-corrosion blue coating on steel
Steel anti-corrosion requires salt spray ≥720 h (GB/T 1771). WT inorganic pigments achieve this.
| Parameter | Architectural | Wood | Anti-corrosion |
|---|---|---|---|
| D50 (μm) | ≤0.3 | ≤0.15 | ≤0.25 |
| pH | 8.0-9.5 | 8.0-9.0 | 8.5-9.5 |

WT waterborne colorant delivers stable performance across architectural, wood and anti-corrosion applications.
Q1: Can waterborne colorant be used in exterior wall?
A: Yes, choose WT outdoor series with QUV resistance ≥1000 h.
Q2: How much colorant is typically added?
A: 2%-5% by weight of base coating, depending on depth of shade.
Q3: Does it affect drying time?
A: No, properly formulated waterborne colorant does not alter recoat time.
Q4: What is shelf life?
A: 12 months sealed at 5-35°C.
